Installations & Restorations

At DBS Floors we have trained teams of installers and polishers meaning we can see the entire process through from concrete installation right through to the polishing, giving you piece of mind and not dealing with several companies at once.

Polished concrete comes in 3 finish options, see below the descriptions and some example installations.

Cream Polish

This finish option gets it name from the process of polishing the ‘cream’ which is the top powerfloated layer of concrete which has no aggregate exposure. Minimal surface grinding takes place leaving a very natural almost marble like pattern from the installation process. It is by far the most common finish in residential homes due to it being the most time and cost effective finish due to no grinding needing to take place. It relies heavily on the installation of the concrete being upto a high standard.

Cream Polish

Salt and Pepper

This finish as you have probably guessed gets its name from the very small aggregate exposure that becomes visible from lightly grinding through the cream, creating a salt and pepper effect. The colour variation will be less with this option giving a very classic subtle finish.

Full Aggregate Exposure

This finish option often is the statement of the room once installed. With the ability to choose coloured stones to be cast into the floor on installation you can truly make the floor like no other. The surface is ground to expose large aggregate and consistent colouring removing the top cream layer of concrete. Any concrete slab installation can receive this finish however, results will vary so a test patch is recommended on existing concrete to see the mix of aggregate that has been used.

Polished Concrete Restorations

If you have an existing concrete slab we can provide a service of polishing this, providing the concrete mix is of the appropriate quality and strength.

Concrete Restorations

All 3 of the above mentioned finishes can be taken to a "Honed" finish if required, this is a Matte look and is used in our external patio installations but can also be used indoors too.
